Whungee Wheengee

G’day, my name is Adrian and you can probably guess that my website is named after one of my favourite canyons, namely Whungee Wheengee which I have recently (Oct 2020) rewritten from scratch using Hugo (a static site generator) given that my previous website which was running on Joomla was as slow as a dog and was completely broken.

My website is mostly made up of a bunch of canyoning, bushwalking and XC skiing trip reports which are a mish-mash of trips with friends, Scouts or North Sydney Boys Duke of Ed which is kinda weird given my real passion is rockclimbing. But, when I’m climbing that’s all I’m focussed on and taking photos is a distraction on the other hand, canyoning or bushwalking trips are made for taking photos.

I also have written a few technical articles covering bushwalking and canyoning.

Cheers,

Adrian.

Upper Bowens Creek South Branch

Upper Bowens Creek South Branch

21 Nov 2020

Today was the first of Sydney North Region Scouts summer canyoning adventure weekends and I was excited to note that I’d been allocated to Upper Bowens Creek South Branch, an awesome canyon that I had done five years ago.

This canyoning guide provides an overview of equipment that should be considered for canyons in the Blue Mountains, which in general are warmer and have much lower water flows unlike the cold raging torrents that you’ll find in NZ.

Whungee Wheengee

Woo Hoo! It’s only taken four years on my fourth trip down Whungee Wheengee to finally write up a trip report of one of my favourite canyons and a great one to do in preparation for our forthcoming Mountaineering Trip.

Kanangra Main

27 Dec 2016

Kanangra Main is my photography nemesis. When I last did Kanangra Main way back in 2008 with Greg and Paul I somehow managed to format my SD drive after a few too many Coopers around the camp fire and lost all my shots and so was keen to do it again.

Macquarie Rivulet Lower Section

This “canyon” is heaps of fun - it’s more of an open gully than a canyon featuring waterfalls and slippery creek walking more reminiscent of Kanangra than the classic Blue Mountains canyons.
